Steuben County has been home to the Wickard Companies, owned by Wayne G. Wickard, for more than 20 years. The company started in Fremont in 1982. What started as a truck dealership in northeast Indiana in the early 1980s has blossomed into a family of companies with one basic concept in mind: customer service is number one.

There was a need for truck owner operators to obtain employee-like benefits at affordable prices, in addition to a reduction in the bill payment, expense tracking and budgeting required of an independent business owner. In 1997 a program was created which our customers know as IDSC (Independent Driver Services Company). IDSC has two programs available: the monthly program will pay monthly insurances, and the full service cash management program will pay an owner operator’s insurances, truck payment, estimated taxes, and other monthly expenses. IDSC provides a customized bookkeeping service and benefit options for owner operators. Owner operators who are interested in reducing paperwork and purchasing benefits at group discount rates find IDSC’s programs beneficial to their trucking business. Its cash management service offers assistance with competitively-priced insurance programs, which include workers’ compensation, physical damage and non-trucking liability. Truck lease purchase programs are also available as well as affordable benefits, including supplemental health, life, business expense disability, dental, vision, and pre-paid legal services.

Diversified Employee Solutions, a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), provides payroll and benefit options to small, medium and large companies. It also offers human resources management (documentation, compliance, and conflict resolution), workers compensation and risk management (claims administration, compliance, and cash flow improvement), employee benefits (insurance, retirement and benefits administration) and employee and payroll administration to businesses across the country.
