ANGOLA — The Steuben County United Way is hoping for $200,000 in ’05.
The announcement of the organization’s goal for Campaign 2005 was made this morning at its annual kick-off breakfast, held on Public Square in Angola. This year’s goal was $250,000. United Way executive director Karma Austin said that goal wasn’t quite attained — about $185,000 was raised for 2004.
The morning began with breakfast, which was followed by the introduction of United Way board members and performances by the Angola High School Swing Choir.
Representatives for several Pace Setter companies were on hand as well. These companies have already begun fund-raising for the 2005 campaign. Among them were Ward Wildman of Rittal Electromate, Fremont, and Kathy Vrana of The Wickard Companies, Angola and Fremont. Vrana is also the chair of Campaign 2005.
“So far, we have $10,400 in employee contributions and a $2,400 corporate contribution, so we’re at right about $12,800 right now,” Wildman said. “Hopefully, that will go up some.”
The Wickard Companies has raised $7,000 for the campaign so far, Vrana said — $3,500 in employee contributions, and a 100 percent corporate match.
Other pace setters included Fifth Third Bank, ITW Automotive Finishing, Supported Agencies and Tyden-Brammell.
The United Way helps to support several not-for-profit agencies throughout Steuben County.
